I purchased my first camera in 1953 when I was in Korea. It was during this time that I developed a passion for cameras and photography. In 1967 we moved to Selma and I continued to pursue my hobby by taking pictures of parades, railroad days and, of course, pictures of my children marching with the band. When I retired in 1996 I purchased a computer, flatbed scanner and film/slide scanner. After a long and laborious two years I had all of my pictures and slides digitized. I now have about sixty thousand photo files archived on DVD and two terabyte hard drives. Over ten thousand of these files are old pictures that I have collected and the pictures that I have taken of Selma events over the years. I will post some of these photos on this photo blog for your viewing.
Selma, North Carolina 27576
Selma was officially chartered as a town on February 11, 1873. Selma was born as a Railroad Town, and our rail heritage is still evident - from our recently renovated 1924 passenger Depot, which supports AMTRAK service, to our Mitchener Station, built ca. 1855, thought to be the oldest surviving train station in North Carolina. We welcome residents and visitors alike with our vibrant shopping district, specializing in antiques with something for everyone.
